The things I love

Monthly Archives: December 2013

As we celebrate the life of Dr Nelson Mandela, I am thinking it is right time to do a little introspection. Tata Madiba is a world icon, someone almost all the countries in the world  look up to.  He has been a symbol of hope for the hopeless , the advocate for the underdog and prince of peace.

Tata sacrificed his life to better our country. We live in a democratic country because of his sacrifice along with Walter Sisulu, Chris Hani, Steve Biko, Govan Mbeki, Dr O.R Tambo to name but a few.

These men gave selflessly for us to enjoy democracy, this democracy we so unashamedly abuse. I hear people chanting, singing in honor of Tata proudly claiming he was their role model. I feel though it is such a disgrace that a group of 19 year olds who are whoonga addicts, pickpocketers, boys involved in, hijacking & housebreaking would undermine Tatas legacy and disrespect his passion but still call him their role model.

South Africans, Africans and the world over, we have claimed Nelson Mandela to be our hero, our role model  and our father, we know his principles, we know what peace and giving meant to him. I am appealing to each and every person in the world who has admired, loved, cherished and respected Tata Madiba to live up to his principles and carry his legacy to honor him.

Rest in Peace Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, I might not do as much as you have done for this country but  I am going to try.
